Zeromow is a non-profit initiative aimed at creating awareness that there are powerful, reliable, cleaner and quieter battery electric alternatives available to replace fossil fuel powered lawn and garden maintenance equipment.
What does Zeromow do?
To help create awareness and demonstrate the benefits of battery electric alternatives, Zeromow provides:
The use of fossil-fuel powered outdoor equipment such as mowers, leaf blowers, brushcutters, hedge trimmers and chainsaws, is a growing source of air and noise pollution and of greenhouse gas emissions.
The vision of Zeromow is to see the rapid transition to battery powered mowing and gardening equipment powered by 100% renewable energy, reducing noise and air pollution and producing zero greenhouse gas emissions.
All of Zeromow’s equipment and the vehicles we drive are fully battery electric and powered by 100% renewable energy.
Why do we need battery electric alternatives?
Battery electric alternatives are cleaner, quieter, lighter, more efficient, simpler to use, cheaper to run and maintain, have no fumes, have minimal vibration, use no petrol or oil, and have zero emissions.
Fossil-fuel powered machines are especially high polluters relative to their engine size and usage. For example, a two-stroke leaf blower used for one hour can produce as much hydrocarbons as 150 cars over the same time.
It is estimated that Australia could prevent the creation of over 1.9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 20 years if we were to transition to lower-emitting alternatives.
2016 was the hottest year on record globally and the 40th consecutive year with above average temperatures. The scientific case for urgent climate action could not be clearer. We must lower emissions urgently to limit global warming and make the rapid transition to 100% renewable energy.
Electrifying transport and outdoor equipment goes hand in hand with making the transition to 100% renewable energy.
Zeromow is committed to working towards this goal.
